FAQS
Life coaching is a dynamic and collaborative process focused on helping individuals identify and achieve their personal and professional goals. It involves a series of one-on-one sessions, or group sessions and workshops. As a certified life coach, I provide guidance, support, and accountability.
I use a variety of techniques and tools to help clients gain clarity, set actionable goals, and develop strategies to overcome challenges. The coaching process is highly personalized, tailored to each individual's unique needs and aspirations, and it empowers clients to make positive changes in their lives.
My #1 goal is to help my clients tune into their self-worth, and personal capacity to learn, grow, heal and take ownership of their life. I love seeing the lights turn on in their eyes!
The duration of a private coaching engagement can vary based on individual goals and needs. Some clients find value in a few 45-minute sessions focused on specific issues or challenges, while others may engage in longer-term coaching to achieve more substantial personal transformations.
Typically, a coaching relationship may last anywhere from a few months to a year or longer. It's essential to discuss your objectives and expectations with me to determine the best timeline for your coaching journey.
Adventures in WISDOM™ Life Coaching for Kids distinguishes itself through a story-based approach that engages kids in learning about their brain, body, nervous system and mindset.
I love using the 27 different curriculum modules in my coaching because I have seen how powerful storytelling is in teaching mindset principles and skills!
This critically-acclaimed program is used all over the world with incredible results! I implement it into private coaching, and into all of my kids' workshops and summer camps. It's an excellent way to captivate their attention, whether meeting one-on-one or with a group, and stimulates meaningful discussion and personal application.
Raising six kids of my own, I know how inseparably-connected thoughts, emotions and behavior are, and how empowered children will make better decisions with behavior by understanding the building blocks within their own brains and bodies.
The Brain Lab for Teens™ is a carefully curated 6-session program that helps teenagers understand where emotions come from, the important role that they play in our lives and how to manage them.
With this understanding, teens are empowered to guide their own thinking in order to create confidence, handle uncomfortable emotions with resilience, increase their sense of self-worth and capacity to handle challenges in life.
Behavior becomes more self-governed with higher personal goals and personal accountability as teens develop a sturdier relationship with themselves.
As a mom of multiple teenagers, I love supporting and encouraging youth at this vulnerable, but exciting, time of life!
When do parents need coaching?
Parents who find themselves stuck in a repeated pattern of conflict, contention and disconnection will need the guidance that I provide in private coaching and group workshops.
Parents clarify their role, understand how to set and maintain healthy boundaries, improve connection techniques and communication styles. Overall, attachment patterns become more secure when parents are empowered with interpersonal skills.
I help parents feel better about themselves, clean up their thinking about their children and nurture resilience in order to handle the normal ups and downs of family life.
Many parents report improved relationships with their kids, no matter the stage of life, when they work with me. I help parents understand why they get angry, give into, ignore or avoid their kids. We create an actionable plan for how to become the parents they truly want to be!
Young Adults are meeting major milestones, like selecting a career path, university or vocational programs, dating, and moving into becoming independent. This can be intimidating and overwhelming. With a coach, young adults can explore thoughts and beliefs that might be holding them back from fully embracing their new stage of life. I help young adult clients understand the influence thoughts and emotions have on decision-making, and how to regulate themselves into a position of confidence, hope and determination.

MEET THE COACH
Michelle Cox - Mindset Coach
Michelle was born in Canada to an American father and a Peruvian mother. She was raised in Indiana, Maryland, Finland and Germany. Growing up overseas, Michelle was able to travel to twenty different countries and experience many cultures. Inspired by a love for people and what makes them unique, she received her Associates degree in Psychology, then her Bachelors degree in Family Sciences with an emphasis in Human Development.
Marrying her best friend, Neal, following graduation, Michelle determined to get as much real-life hands-on experience as possible by starting a family and staying home to raise her kids. She called it her "personal practicum" and planned to become certified as a Family Life Educator once her youngest started school.
Six children and 19 years later, Michelle returned to the workforce, first as a teacher aide at an elementary school, then as a certified life coach for kids and teens. Completing her certification through Adventures in WISDOM™ Life Coaching for Kids, Michelle has set out to directly respond to the emotional and behavioral challenges that she observed in the classroom, and has responded to in her own home for the past twenty-two years. She offers private coach, group workshops on Zoom and in person, as well as the popular mindset summer camps held at the Nacogdoches County Expo Center.
Knowing the strain of family life and work demands, Michelle expanded her reach in the Fall of 2023 to include adult resilience workshops and classes, as well as private relationship coaching. It is her firm belief that the secret to world peace is found in strong parent-child relationships.
In 2024, Michelle was trained and certified as a Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor for Burke, a major mental health provider East Texas. She visits school districts and community groups across her region to inform adults on the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges and substance use issues in the youth they work or live with, and how to connect youth with appropriate professional care. Having lost an older brother by suicide in 1999, Michelle is determined to prevent tragedy through information and awareness, as well as offering hope that recovery is possible.
Armed with decades of life experience and nearly two years as a life coach, Michelle brings enthusiasm, wisdom, humor and compassion to her work.
In her free time, she loves to travel and explore beautiful places with her family, play board games, bake breads and knit. She's learning to play the guitar and ukulele.
